Name of Missionary: Wilco & Lydia Venter
Name of Ministry: YASHA Ministry
Nature of Ministry: Nursery schooling
• For a continuous and fresh outpouring of God’s Spirit on our marriage, family and ministry.
• For sponsorship to better the salaries of our teachers in remote areas (we ask very low school fees in these marginalized areas, so it doesn’t help a great deal).
• For our Hope Centre children of whom many are in boarding schools - We still need sponsorship for Felix and John (two boys that we found on the streets end of 2015). Their marks have improved so much since January when they joined Lerwa Centre for Excellence.
Five Year Old Clement’s Hip Operation
We are currently raising funds for a small 5 year old boy, named Clement. He is one of our nursery school children in Teret, at the foot of the Mau Forest.
Both of Clement’s hips are deformed. He has been examined by some of the best doctors at Kijabe Mission Hospital and it seems a miracle is possible. The cost of such an operation is 700GBP (this amount will be valid until October 2015).
I have an urgent request regarding our 1989 Toyota Camry. We are the 4th missionary couple to own this vehicle and it is our mode of transport for visiting our special needs children in Nanyuki. It badly needs body work and a major service. The windscreen was badly damaged and a replacement was kindly funded by the Smiths (a couple from the US). The repairs outstanding amount to 40,000kes / $440 / 294GBP / R5,130.
We have been trusting the Lord for land so that we can (1) save money on rent and (2) have a place we can develop where we can comfortable host our Hope Centre kids during holidays, hold pastor’s and leadership training, have youth camps, etc.
The price of land has gone up tremendously over the past couple of years. An acre of land can be anything between 3,200 and 10,000 GBP, depending on the area.
We have serious recycling programs going on in Kenya and, although we specializes in recycling art, we’ve also ventured into bigger projects. For the past couple of months we’ve been producing bricks made of 100% plastic rubbish ... trusting God that one day we can build something that will bring glory to His Name on land that was bought to expand His Kingdom.
We welcome any individual or group who would like to come and help us in YASHA Ministry, whether it’s short or long term. Different serving opportunities are available, for example teaching (both adults and in a nursery school set-up), evangelism, admin as well as practical jobs, like painting, building, fencing, etc. We have accommodation available for 5-7 people.
