As we all know, energy prices continue to rise and are causing hardship around the world. Matumaini is a centre for 50 disabled children in Kenya and has a borehole and tank installed. This borehole provides water not only for the centre but for the entire community. As energy prices rose, it was getting harder to pay the very high electricity costs of running the borehole pump for the many hours a day that is needed to provide people with this life-giving resource. The cost had soared to nearly £500 a month and there were arrears of £1700 with the threat that the water would be cut off if not paid.

To overcome this, we wanted to install solar energy to the borehole pump and the whole centre which would significantly reduce the monthly bill to less than £100 making an immediate and long-term saving and providing clean energy. With the centre's limited funds this was impossible without the help of generous supporters. Through a combination of generous donors, fundraising efforts and a very kind grant from the Cheshire Disability Services Kenya, the centre has now converted to solar power!"

The seemingly mammoth task of solarising the centre not only happened...but much quicker than we had ever expected!! The words of Isaiah rang true.... I will answer them before they even call to me. While they are still talking about their needs, I will go ahead and answer their prayers! (Isaiah 65:24)
